Rinse the second stage and hose with fresh water after each dive to remove salt, sand and chlorine — contaminants that can corrode internal parts over time.
Do not press the purge while rinsing; avoid forcing water into internal mechanisms.
Soak Properly
If possible, pressure‑soak the regulator assembly on a cylinder in warm fresh water for ~30 min; otherwise, soak the second stage with the inlet cap on. This dissolves trapped salt crystals.
Dry Thoroughly
After rinsing/soaking, wipe dry and hang in a shaded, ventilated area away from direct sunlight and heat. Store with hose loosely coiled.
Inspect Before Each Dive
Check the hose, mouthpiece, O‑rings and purge cover for cracks, wear or damage. Ensure the yellow‑coded octopus hose and fittings are secure.
Annual Service
Have the octopus (and full regulator set) inspected and serviced annually by an authorized technician — or more often if heavily used — to refresh seals and check internal performance.
Gentle Handling & Storage
Protect the backup from impacts, chemicals and abrasion when transporting or storing; use a padded gear bag. Keep away from excessive heat, UV and oils.
